We will boat you and your luggage in at the beginning of your holiday and out again at the end. Our boat is a 21ft Dory and capable of taking plenty of luggage and people. The boat journey only takes 5 minutes so if more than one trip is necessary we can easily make another. We prefer large parties to aim to arrive at the same time.

Cars can be parked in the village of Golant. Parking is situated in the pay and display car park, next to the slipway where we pick you up in the boat. We have  private spaces that you won’t need to pay for( 4 for the house and one for the lodge) Extra cars can be parked here too, park where rates are reasonable, currently £3.00 per 24 hours. The Car park is free from November to March.

The Fishermans arms pub is a perfectly placed meeting spot should you wish to gather your group first, a two minute walk from the car park, It’s child friendly, serves food and has plenty of outdoor seating for you to watch out for the arrival of fellow guests and keep an eye on the tide. Please book ahead if you plan to eat. Once you book the Old Sawmills, we’ll inform you of the tide times on the day of your arrival. With a five hour window of water every 12 hours it’s not too difficult to arrive on the tide. If however you do miss the window, you can always park up, walk down and we can arrange to boat your luggage in the following day.We will also boat you out on departure, to suit your convenience and the tides.

Boat Hire

A boat is particularly worthwhile if you are staying for several days, you’ll be able to nip into Fowey and Golant during the tide window in a fraction of the time, and better able to explore the river. Boats can be hired and delivered to you at the Sawmills by fowey-river-boat-hire.co.uk. They supply 7 seater motor boats with life jackets, and will show you how to drive them. The motor boat hire companies do not operate from early November to early March. Canoes and Kayaks can be hired on a daily or weekly basis from encountercornwall.com in Golant. They offer guided trips too, and operate All year round.
